    • A real property tax rate which is one of the lowest effective rates of any county in Virginia with a population over 90,000
    • A budget which focuses on continuing the delivery of essential services
    • A reduction of $30 million (9%) in the most recent budget from the previous year's budget
    • Efficiency changes which have resulted in annual expense reductions of more than $5 million in County operations
    • A reduction of $100 million in the County's capital plan, or 42% for the next five years
    • Policies which have contributed to the County consistently having one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country
    • Financial policies which have resulted in the County being one of only thirty counties in the country to receive the highest credit rating
    • A five-year business plan for the County to ensure that long-term fiscal impacts of decisions are taken into consideration
    • A revised Economic Development Policy which has been supported by both business and environmental groups
    • Expanding use of technology to reduce administrative costs. The County has been selected as one of the top ten counties in the country for its use of technology.
